Assistant Vice President for Research Tanner Schaub leads the Infrastructure and Partnerships unit, which manages the sustainability and growth of research centers, institutes, and the Research Cores Program, to facilitate a unified flow of momentum and collaboration between internal and external partners.

In 2023, Dr. Schaub established the NMSU Research Computing Advisory Council, which—together with its Vision Team working group—develops partnerships, industry collaborations, and external funding proposals to advance NMSU’s high-performance computing (HPC) and research computing infrastructure. These efforts support the university’s expanding needs in AI/ML and data science.

Dr. Schaub is also a Research Professor whose work centers on applying high-resolution mass spectrometry to complex challenges in water and environmental science, biological systems, alternative fuels, and materials research. Under his leadership, the Infrastructure and Partnerships unit aligns critical research resources with institutional priorities, industry and state funding opportunities, and provides oversight on research planning, budgeting, and feasibility. He collaborates closely with academic colleges to coordinate faculty startup packages, cost-sharing, and the establishmet of new research facilities and equipment resources.
